What to expect from your kayak course

Let us know if you have any questions.

What to wear

You will get drops of water from paddling on you - fast drying athletic or merino wool shirts are best. Wear footwear that can get wet and will stay on your feet. Depending on the weather you should bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses (with strap), swim suit, rain jacket, sweater. A change of clothes and a towel are a good idea. For Paddle Canada courses your instructor will contact you beforehand to talk about equipment.

Group

The maximum number of paddlers per group is 6 plus the instructor. For Level 1 courses we usually have a maximum of 4 participants. While we don't have a minimum age for our kayak lessons please inquire with us before booking for participants under 16 years old.

How to find us

Most of our courses take place at McNeill Bay, Oak Bay. All locations are easy to reach by car, bus, bike, or maybe even walking,... We will send you detailed instructions how to get to the meeting point of your lesson.

Waiver

We require you to sign a waiver. You will receive an electronic waiver by email. For Paddle Canada certified courses a Paddle Canada waiver is being provided.

Kayak & gear

It takes a few minutes to fit you with the right equipment and kayak. Besides kayak and paddle, we provide life jackets, spray skirts, bilge pumps, ropes, and water proof bags. You are welcome to bring your own equipment. Please contact us beforehand if you are unsure about your gear. Wetsuits are required for Paddle Canada Basic and Level 1 courses. We have a number of suits available which you are welcome to use.

Cancellation

Please give us at least 7 days notice. A refund minus $10 admin fee will be given. No refunds for cancellations within 7 days if we are not able to fill your spot. You will receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather, sickness or other unforeseen circumstances.
