Heike Edam kayaking profile About us

Heike Edam

Operations Manager
Before moving to Canada in 2009 Heike spent a lot of time on trains while tour guiding in Asia. She also planned and promoted custom tours in China, and always found a way to travel all over the world. It took a special place, such as Victoria, to convince her to settle down. From the first moment she paddled a kayak Heike realized that there is no better way to see this beautiful city and its surroundings. She has an MBA from Hamburg University (Germany) and a degree in Intercultural Studies from UBC - both come in handy when designing tours. Heike truly believes that kayaking is for everybody - her kids were kayaking before they could walk, and she has had visitors in their 70s paddle happily. No matter if you are looking for some exercise, see wildlife, have fun with your friends, relax on the water or go sightseeing, kayaking is the way to go. We hope to see you on the water!
Brook Taubner in double kayak profile about us

Brook Taubner

Kayak Guide & Instructor
Brook has been in love with kayaking ever since his first paddle on Thetis Lake many years ago, and his passion for the sport remains the same, be it touring, surfing, fitness or day tripping. Brook has been fortunate enough to have done some very adventurous trips, beginning in 2014 with a 2000km+ odyssey down the Mackenzie river and east along the Artic to Tuktoyaktuk. In 2016 he zigzagged his way up the west coast of BC from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert (900+km) and his last trip was in 2018 when he did a solo circumnavigation of continental Denmark (900+km). Brook holds a Bachelor of Education and is a little bit of a history buff. He spends much of his free time kayak-camping on the many islands around Vancouver Island with his wife and kids. Last year they made it out to Nootka Island, Desolation Sound, and of course the Gulf Islands. Brook is a certified guide with Paddle Canada and has been paddling these waters for most of his life. He hopes that his passion for this multi-faceted sport can be transmitted to new paddlers, and the enthusiasm to go with it!
